REGULATIONS Japan World’s Tourism Film Festival (JWTFF)

The Rules and Regulations are issued in Japanese and in English. In case of doubt the Japanese version will be valid. Some of the detail might be revised by request of applicant because we held this type of festival as our first time. And if the revision is acted, it will be informed to applicants.

Please fill in the entry form very carefully. These details provided will be used for certificates and other festival listings. Once the entry form has been submitted, any changes are not possible.

The purpose of The Japan world’s Tourism Film Festival is to discover and recognize the best tourism films and seek for the future of tourism films. Currently, the tourism industry is expanding dramatically, and tourism strategies based on SDGs become more important to solve various problems occurred recently. On the other hand, in the field of communication, 5thGeneration will start soon, therefore we need to think new age for digital marketing and the role of promotion films becomes more important. Now, Tourism Films are important tools that gives creation and innovation to tourism.

As a consequence, the JWTFF is an important means of promoting tourism and territorial branding of the partner brands.

 

  1. FESTIVAL ENTRIES

Multiple entries are invited. The same festival entry can be entered into different categories. It is obligatory:

to fill in an individual entry form for each film and send your film to the festival.

 

  1. COMPETITIONS AND SECTIONS

JWTF Festival features 2 sections in competition: International Competition section and Japan Competition section.

In each section you can compete films of the following types:

Commercials (less than 1’)

Promotional Films (less than 15’)

 

In each section there are 8 thematic or genres related to tourism, each submitted film can select up to three thematic or genres listed below:

Cultural Tourism

Sports Tourism

Hotels & Resorts

Nature & Rural Tourism

Gastronomic Tourism

SDGs in Tourism

City Promotion

 

  1. LABELS

Each festival entry has to be labeled with:

Name | full address | contact | Title | Objectives | Synopsys | Locations | length | correct format | Year of Production |Section & Category or categories it is submitted for;

 

  1. YEAR OF PRODUCTION

All festival entries must have been produced after January 1, 2016.

 

  1. LANGUAGE VERSIONS

The official language of the festival is Japanese and English. Entries in the international competition are accepted in any language provided the following requirements are met:

English subtitles or voice-over in English;

Synopsis written in English.

The movie must have the subtitles inserted.

If the language is not Japanese, our festival would insert Japanese subtitles.

In the Japan Competition,  it is advised that the films have subtitles or voiceover in English, as our festival is international festival.

 

  1. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS

The films that wish to participate in the Festival JWTFF have two stages to be able to do it:

We set the deadline for submissions for International Competition section on 20 January, 2019.

We set the deadline for submissions for Japan Competition section on 1st  February, 2019. If you like to submit Japan section, please see Japanese page.

 

  1. FORMATS & SENDINGS

Please certify to send all requested materials for each of the films entered. The films enrolled in the JWTF Festival must have at least the following or similar requirements:

Resolution:

Full HD (1920×1080 pixels), 16: 9

Video codec: H.264

Audio codec: AAC

No copy protection + no loop

Delete all region and security codes.

  1. ENTRY FEES & PAYMENT DATA

As this festival is new and experimental, we would not ask any entry fees.

At the same time, we ” would not ” support any transportation fee, hotels and food during the festival.

For Japanese films or films that are about Japan, there are 2 competitions at the JWTF Festival: The Japan Competition and the International Competition.

During the registration process the films can be registered in the Japan competition and / or in the International Competition:

 

  1. JURY & AWARDS

The international jury is composed of professionals and experts in the areas of Audiovisual and Cinema, Tourism and Marketing and Communication. In the Japan Competition, the jury awards prizes (1st and 2nd place) to the 2 best films in each thematic category, also awards the prize for the best film in each Japan tourist region and the Grand Prix (best Japanese film). In the International Competition the Jury assigns the prizes in the thematic categories (1st and 2nd place) .

 

In the world competition of the Festival the Jury will also award the following prizes:

1 Grand Prix JWTFF (Best Film of the Festival)

2 Grand Prix Sections (best movie in each section)

3 Special awards: Best East Asian Film

 

The jury may award special prizes. Winners who can not attend the festival and wish to receive their trophy after the festival can do so, they must inform the organization and make a payment for the processing costs and pay the respective shipping costs.

 

  1. RIGHTS OF USE

By entering a festival entry the entrant declares, that he is entitled to dispose of all rights to the use of the entry and vouches for these rights vis-a-vis the festival. The entrant warrants that the rights of use held by all authors, owners of ancilliary copyrights and other parties involved in the production of the festival entry, except for the rights safeguarded by the performing rights societies, have been acquired in a due and proper manner and the exploitation of the festival entry is not barred by personality rights or other third party rights in any manner whatsoever.

When entering a festival entry the entrant transfers rights to the use of the festival entry, specifically the right to present and demonstrate the entry in public either in whole or in part or to distribute the entry in whole or in part on a “Festival Reel” or similar, to the festival. This also applies to stills/images provided to the festival. All aforementioned transfers of use shall be of worldwide validity.

 

  1. WINNERS NOTIFICATION

 

Festival entries will be prejudged and Award-winners will be notified beforehand. The decisions of the jury are not contestable. Decisions of the jury and the festival Organization are final and not subject to any legal appeal.

 

  1. LIABILITY OF THE FESTIVAL

The festival reserves the right to reclassify festival entries into other categories where this is deemed appropriate. The festival organization does not accept any responsibility for the cancellation of the festival due to force majeure.

 

  1. MISCELLANEOUS

The festival reserves the right to compile entries on a “Festival Reel” or similar, also in processed form, and to distribute same on a medium deemed appropriate by the festival. This also applies to stills/images provided to the festival. The entrants transfer all rights appropriate in this context upon entrance of the festival entry to the festival. The festival reserves the right to use all recordings taken at the festival for any promotional purpose in any medium deemed appropriate by the festival. The festival reserves the right to exclude entries from the competition.

By entering a festival entry the entrant accepts all Rules and Regulations and also agrees to hold the festival harmless against all costs or claims of third parties arising from any such use by the festival or from false information by the entrant. The festival will not sell or rent personal data provided by you.
